Lara Varisco Leonhardt, MD
Dr. Leonhardt’s renowned southern hospitality and compassionate approach create a welcoming atmosphere where patients and their families feel at ease. Background
While Dr. Leonhardt was born and raised in Bryan, TX, she opted to study at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, where she became a proud alumna. She then completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX. Since her residency, Dr. Leonhardt’s work experience has been in a private pediatric setting. Dr Leonhardt’s team consists of several nurse practitioners that are competent and capable of caring for your child with years of experience.

Personal Life
Dr. Leonhardt met her husband at Texas A&M University, and both fell so madly in love that they married after college. They now have a busy teenage child studying at Episcopal High School and a lively son at Western Academy. Outside of work, she enjoys beach days, yard work, quick workouts with friends, and, most importantly, spending time with her family.
Amanda Garcia, FNP - BC
Amanda joined our private pediatric clinic in February 2023. As a bilingual healthcare professional with Spanish as her first language, she helps us overcome any communication problems when it comes to providing quality pediatric medical care to the local Hispanic population in Houston, TX. Her Spanish-speaking skills also allow us to meet the needs of these patients, ensure medical instructions given to them are understood, and gauge their in-office satisfaction.
Journey in the Healthcare Industry
Amanda started as a registered nurse in the progressive coronary care unit at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. She later became the unit’s charge nurse. In 2010, she relocated to Houston, TX, and worked as a charge nurse in the intensive care units within the Memorial Hermann Health System. During this time, she was also completing her Master of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.
She eventually earned her degree with honors and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. Upon completing her master’s degree, Amanda earned her certification as a family nurse practitioner from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She became a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Since starting her career, she has accumulated 10 years of experience working in a private pediatric setting.
Personal Life
Amanda was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley area. Upon moving to Houston, TX, for better career opportunities, she was able to have time to do the things she loved the most. These activities include spending time with her son, cycling, and mentoring nursing students.
